The last session I went to was about Project Looking glass. It was nice to see a much longer demo of this because it really is amazing. The talk didn't just stick to flashy graphics because they talked about how it's all implemented. I'm not much of a graphics programmer so I didn't understand all the stuff about native drivers and compilation. However, I did understand the high level architecture and was interested to hear that they've actually patched the X window server/manager to do all this stuff. This explains why Looking Glass is only available for Linux and UNIX boxes. Anybody going to work on a patch for the Mac OS X version of X11?

One guy asked if Microsoft had been invited to join in and the response was, "no, but it's an open source project on java.net"! I'm sure Microsoft are very interested in this but I'm also sure that rather than helping out, they'll come up with something similar, and proprietary. ;-)
