Switching from Mac to PC

Apple's switcher campaign puts forward some pretty powerful arguments for buying a Mac, but what about switching from a Mac back to a PC? This short movie might just have the answers.

I know that I get ribbed about having a Mac at work by some people (yes, it's a 12" PowerBook that's now slow in comparison to pretty much anything else around), but you've got to hand it to Apple for their attention to detail. Last week, one of the guys I work with was copying a directory structure on a Windows XP box and asked why there isn't a "No to all" option when asked whether you want to replace existing files. Of course, you can do this with Mac OS X. ;-)

Inspired by Michael Moore, Skyler decided that it was time to use her video equipment for the greater good... to educate other young people and their parents on the subtle danger of the Mac. Thank-you Simon, for helping to spread this important message.

Hold Shift for "No to All"

Funnily enough there was just a piece on O'Reilly recently that gave this tip. http://www.windowsdevcenter.com/pub/a/windows/2004/12/21/windows_explorer_hacks.html

Re: Switching from Mac to PC

Cool blog. I'm still on a pc, but have come to accept that my next 'puter will be a mac. my concern is that I feel like I know the pc really well. When I use my wife's ibook, I get totally confused. I can't find anything and I was accidentally deleting applications all the time when I tried to play with it when she first got the machine. Is it a relatively short learning curve when switching? and can U use my knowledge base from windows on a mac? Am I being ridiculous?

Re: Switching from Mac to PC

Thanks. I'd never used a Mac before I bought my PowerBook and while there is a learning curve, Macs are easy to get to grips with. I'd recommend the latest version of Mac OS X : The Missing Manual for anybody starting out with Mac OS X for the first time.

Funny and Sad Mac-to-PC Switcher

The movie is both funny and sad, more sad than funny, because there is just too much truth to it.
