Pebble 1.9 available

I'm pleased to announce that Pebble 1.9 has all been checked-in, tagged and is available to download from here with some upgrade notes here. Here's a list of what's new.

In the end, I didn't integrate a rich text editor because I couldn't make my mind up as to which should be included. I'd rather get the release out for feedback and integrate it in the future. Speaking of which, I guess it's onwards to the Pebble 2.0 release where there will be some big changes. I have a fair idea of what I want to do, but I'll save that for another day. Last but not least, I'd once again like to thank everybody that provided translations for the text, helping make Pebble a truly international blogging tool.

Right, that's me done for the night, have fun with the new features!

Update, 11/08/2005 : The distribution has been replaced with a version that includes commons-codec. Thanks to everybody for letting me know that I'd forgotten to include it!

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

Excellent, I have been looking forward to this for a while now. The upgrade seems to have gone fine, I haven’t had a chance to try the new features yet but I haven noticed two things, I haven’t got any mark-up short cut buttons (Paragraph, Bold, italic etc) in new blog entry, and the subtitle is the same size as the title. Problems with my setup presumably. I’ll have a proper look at it tomorrow. Thanks once again for Pebble, it really is a great program.

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

Thanks. The shortcut buttons have gone (it's easy to integrate FCKeditor) and you can just grab the .blogEntrySubtitle style from the default theme (sorry, forgot to add this one in the upgrade docs).

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

Hi,I'm a newbie here..just stumble into this latest 1.9..I like to install on my Tomcat server V4.1..Wondering can this version support the latest Pebble? After I deploy it, the server cannot start the application while I can run my other application. May I know is there anything i need to take notes before installing it? Please advise ,thanks.

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

I develop against Tomcat, so it could just be a configuration problem. Feel free to send details of your problem to the pebble-user mailing list and we'll help you out. :-)

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

The yesterday evening switch from version 1.8 to version 1.9 was very easy to do. Not with such pain like switching from 1.7.x to 1.8 (must create my theme new from a scratch). After fixing a small bug in the resource files all works fine now and I'd make the most work in recustomizing my opwn JSP changes.

Very good job, thanks, Simon

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

in 1.9, when I try to link some file as attachment without inputing file size, pebble will tell me some exception :(

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

Just a quick note to say that the Pebble 1.9 distribution has been replaced with a version that includes commons-codec. Thanks to everybody for letting me know that I'd forgotten to include it!

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

copied the war file into webapps, made the tomcat-users changes, but when I look at the pebble fornt page, it's not too right. any reason running it over SSL should mess it up?

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

I think you just need to edit the blog.url property in the /WEB-INF/classes/pebble.properties file, setting it to the URL of your install.

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

Problems with 1.9 with weblogic 8.1.3, so I'll stick with 1.8. Bug already logged in jira. Does 1.9 fix the display issues with IE, where the blog itemlist sometimes doesn't display - not a problem with firefox.

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

Just wanted to ask how far away we are from the 2.0 release. I like pebble but I think it lacks some things, a lot of features should be added. It's always good to derive ideas from what's already out there... i.e. Wordpress, b2evolution etc. I really would like to see Pebble being as comprehensive as php based blog engines.

Not working on glassfish ...

Pebble is great :) But I was not able to make this run on Glassfish (upcoming Java EE 5 RI) : https://glassfish.dev.java.net/ ? Anybody has succeed doing that ?

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

Where can I get pebble's source code ? Please... I just wanna change the xml storage to my format.

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

You can get the source code from CVS, as described here.

Re: Pebble 1.9 available

The release notes talk about a utility to import MovableType blogs into Pebble, but I can't find n mention of it anywhere else - does it actually exist?

打算对Pebble做一些工作(计划ing)

I'll do some works about Pebble(if Pebble 2.0 couldn't include these) :
1.(New)Add a AJAX feed newsreader page for blogroll blogs(each blog link endwith a "XML" image).
2.(New)Add a guestbook like webnote for my friends(somewhen friends only leave some words, no special entry for them).
3.(New)Support Database storage(option,priority:low).
4.(Improved)Manually modify blog entry datetime when published.
5.(Improved)Blog entry page view stat.
5.(Tips)Provide a pretty css theme template that I used.
5.(Tips)Integrating with JavaScript Syntax Highlighter(C,C#,PHP,Python,Delphi,Javascript,VB,XML/HTML,SQL,Java+)

Pebble - Perfect & powerful blogging tool, I like it ;-)

Upgraded to Pebble 1.9!

After being behind on my upgrades I have caught up by upgrading to version 1.9. This was possibly my smoothest upgrade ever! I did manage to wipe out all my categories on my old posts though :(. Think I'm going to spend some time customising my th...
