Twitter RSS feed for Simon Brown [Twitter] simonbrown: wondering whether Adobe's commercial approach to Flex Builder will limit adoption of Flex ... which will be a shame, because I quite like it

Coding the Architecture RSS feed for Simon Brown [Coding the Architecture] As mentioned before, we were speakers at, and community sponsors of the Software Architect 2008 conference (3rd-5th June 2008, London). This is the first dedicated software architecture conference that I've been to and the majority of the ...

Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

Following on my post last week, I'm pleased to announce that Pebble 2.0.0-M2 is available to download. Internally, there are some fairly major changes, so you'll need to take note of the installation details included in with distribution (docs/installation.html) if you're upgrading from an earlier version. This includes upgrading from Pebble 2.0.0-M1. Further documentation has been integrated into the Pebble web application and can be found by clicking "Help" after logging in.

Couple of caveats : static pages are disabled pending a rewrite of the DAO layer and existing draft entries aren't/won't be available via the web interface.

Feature-wise, we're nearly complete for a 2.0 release. Outstanding items include the reinstatement of static pages, further documentation and there are a few little bits here and there that need tidying up. The inclusion of static pages will make 2.0.0-M3 and then we're onto a release candidate.

I'm really pleased with the way that Pebble 2.0 has shaped up and I hope you like it too. Either way, let me know.

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

I'm a beginner, London based. I need some help getting a few features to work on Pebble 1.9 I hope you find it an amusing website. It's a cartoon strip blog called "The Magnificent Seven Samurai Salesmen" www.m7ss.co.uk I think the problems are very simple to solve. An experiecned user will tell me what to do very quickly. The main problem is activating Notification Emails (I've done the obvious and followed the instructions, but get no emails when people blog)

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

The best thing to do is send an e-mail to pebble-users for help and support. Thanks.

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

What's the email address for pebble0users? Many thanks

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

There's a link at the top of this page.

encode-password.bat

It would be great if you included an encode-password.bat for Windows in the Pebble distribution.

encode-password.bat

Will do - I just don't have a Windows box to test this on at the moment. ;-)

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

Wonderfull news. However, I'm not sure to understand; static pages are working in M1, are you saying that there is a regression ?

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

Yes - lots of the internals have been rewritten and I wanted to get something out sooner rather than later. Hence static pages are currently not available. They'll be back soon!

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

Hello, I used the CGI script Blosxom for my weblog but the free hosting (netfirms, I hope it has java) put a limit to CGI use so it is down. Blosxom used .txt files (in hxtml) as blog entries in different categories. Do you think Pebble could be set to read the txt from the folders I have the original posts?. Thanks

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

I notice that you've added a robots.txt file to Pebble in the 2.0 series of releases. It looks like you're configured to allow all robots to search anything.

Have you noticed any significant changes in your traffic patterns since adding this file?

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

I actually added it to prevent the 404 warnings from showing up in the logs everytime somebody tried GETting the robots.txt file. No difference in traffic patterns so far.

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

The Atom Publishing API, which you said you intended to include in Pebble 2, is that in M2, or is it postponed to something like 2.0.1, or...? I just wrecked my mobile, and will probably evaluate some new mobile blogging software. So it's nice to know what options I have.

Re: Pebble 2.0.0-M2 available

My current thoughts on this are to get the 2.0.0 release out, and then add new features such as the Atom publishing protocol.

New blog platform - Ubuntu, Tomcat and Pebble 2.0.0-M2

I have been rather disinterested in blogging recently but after seeing Simon Brown had released a new version of Pebble yesterday, I knew I wanted to try it out. Not only that I wanted to ditch my Debian Woody server, as I have been neglecting it and...
