No more PowerBook

After three years, I now have to carry a Dell

I picked up my new company laptop today, which means that after 3 years I'll no longer be carrying my PowerBook around on a regular basis. It's been a fantastic laptop, not necessarily the fastest around, but it's never skipped a beat. It's travelled everywhere with me and is still going strong with the same configuration it had when I bought it.

We are where we are, but I still don't understand why companies insist on dishing out Wintel based systems and then worry about security. Oh well, there's clearly an opportunity to do some influencing. I'm going to miss the UNIX core, expose, the simplicity and just the cool factor of having a Mac laptop. At least I'll be safe in the knowledge that once I return home, all will be good once again. ;-)

Re: No more PowerBook

So which laptop do you have now? What means "a big grey Dull"? :-) Is it a DELL? Which one? I do not remember any DELLs which are at least near with Mac's as for quality and weight.

Re: No more PowerBook

Me neither. ;-)

Re: No more PowerBook

For shame! Couldn't Evo come out with something better than this? After all, they could have upgraded you to a Pro so you could run WinTel stuff on there as well in a Parallels window ...

Re: No more PowerBook

I do have some cool technology on this laptop. It has infrared and a wired network port, so it's not all bad. :-)

Re: No more PowerBook

Ooh. An infra-red port. That'll be handy when you're connecting to your 1990's mobile phone for using dial-up internet access. I bet it's got a floppy drive, too ...

Re: No more PowerBook

Yes, but to use it I have to take out the DVD^H^H^HCD burner.
